As the more observant of you will have noticed - and to be honest you'd need to be in a comatose state not to have done so - the festive season is almost upon us.

These are highly flammable (not in a smoking hot way either) and are made of the cheapest and shiniest satin imaginable or nylon velour and topped off with a bit of fake marabou trim (cotton wool) and have no place anywhere but on the set of a really bad adult movie.

Yet despite the sheer volume of tat floating round the shops at the moment, to say nothing of the risk of sustaining a festive injury while attempting something romantic to the pure and unadulterated aphrodisiac that is Mistletoe and Wine, Christmas is a a fantastic time because it means nights out, office parties, glitz, glamour and - best of all - balls.
Needless to say I'm not talking about footballs or disgusting cheesy balls (God, I hate buffet food) but the proper thing.
